Rumours have been around that Dungeon Siege would be the Diablo 2 killer. I think this is not a statement but a prophecy!
You start of just as usual in these kind of games. Suddenly your peaceful country is under attack by some creatures from hell and you, nothing but a farmer in the beginning have to save the world. On your way you get several quests (some are necessary to do, others aren't), meet NPCS who can join your party and of course: you'll gather items, items and even more items (gimme gimme :-)
Once you start a new game you can create your character and set his attributes (such as gender and outward appeareance). But this one thing is complete new: you can't chose a job class! Your job depends on your personal development, e.g. if you train your ranger skills you'll become a ranger (the same goes for melee skills, nature magic and combat magic etc.).
In detail: Dungeon Siege
Graphics
8.0
You'll find yourself in a 3D world. You can zoom in and out (similar to Empire Earth). The idea is good but it could look even better.
Sound
6.0
Well, I guess the sound is very average. Have heard better sounds though (e.g. Baldurs Gate II).
Control
9.0
Controls are great! Those of you who have liked the Diablo 2 controls won't be in any trouble.
Gameplay
8.0
The game is a fun! I've played the demo and didn't stop until I reached its limits :-)
I would say you need about 20 - 30 hours to get through.
Lastability
7.0
I guess once you are through you could have enough of it, at least that's how I felt with Diablo 2 (on the other hand I know I guy who still plays it with an unbelieveable passion ;-)
But since there are so many items, a multiplayer feature and you can develope so frealy it will last for quite a while.
Total (not an average)
8.0
If you are into Diablo you should defenitily get this game! If you are rather into Baldurs Gate you should rethink your decission.
